To compare the effects of the two methods on visceral fat, researchers at the Southwestern Medical Center of the University of Texas selected 3,602 subjects. The average age of these individuals was 54 years, with an average body mass index of 31 and women accounting for 65%. During the six-month period, the researchers conducted a number of tests and used computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging scans to assess changes in visceral fat in the study subjects.
